A New Way to Get Around

Eve is a self-balancing personal exoskeleton designed for everyday life. It allows you to stand up and walk hands-free—without crutches or a walker—so you can turn around, grab an object, and use your hands while standing: standing at a countertop, talking at eye level, and reaching the bathroom sink. Because Eve stabilizes itself autonomously, independent standing is possible even without core control, provided a trained caregiver is present. Eve is designed to complement your wheelchair, not to replace it.

Eve is designed for adults 18 years of age and older with a spinal cord injury, regardless of neurological level, who are able to operate Eve using the remote control and can tolerate standing. There are also physical limitations, as Eve is customized to your measurements: up to 100 kg (220 lb) and 1.94 m (6 ft 4 in), within defined ranges for thigh length, leg length, hip width, and joint mobility. Eve is a prescription-only device: the final decision always rests with the authorized healthcare professional who prescribes it, following an individual assessment.

Yes. Eve has received FDA approval under number K260381 for adults with spinal cord injuries, regardless of the neurological level. It is a Class II medical device available only by prescription: it must be prescribed by a licensed healthcare professional. Eve will be available in the United States starting September 17, 2026. Other regions will follow.

Yes, every time you use it. Eve must be used in the presence of a trained companion, who completes the training and earns certification alongside you, and who remains within arm’s reach while you walk. This person is also responsible for helping you safely exit the device in the event of a problem. Companions are also evaluated, including a physical test to demonstrate that they are capable of holding onto the device if you lose your balance.

On flat indoor surfaces, and on flat surfaces in outdoor areas that are part of your building: a patio, balcony, deck, or courtyard. The surface must be firm, dry, and smooth—tile or other hard, smooth flooring, short-pile carpet, or concrete in these outdoor areas. Eve is not intended for use on stairs, slopes, or ramps—including ADA-compliant curb cuts—wet or icy surfaces, high-traffic areas, parking lots, or roadways, and it is not intended for sports. It must never be used to cross a public roadway, as its walking speed is too slow to be safe.

You and your companion will train together and be certified together, following a clinical evaluation and personalized adjustment. The program consists of five sessions, each lasting about two hours, led by certified instructors, and alternates between theory and hands-on practice. It covers transfers, use of the remote control, walking on flat surfaces, activities of daily living, as well as safety and emergency procedures, and concludes with an assessment that evaluates both normal use and emergency situations. It can be completed in just one week or spread out over approximately 30 days.
