Eve is a self-balancing personal exoskeleton designed for everyday life. It allows you to stand up and walk hands-free—no crutches, no walker—so you can turn, reach, and use your hands while standing upright: standing at a kitchen counter, having a conversation face-to-face, or reaching the bathroom sink. Because Eve balances itself, standing upright is possible even without trunk control, provided a trained companion is present. Eve is designed to complement your wheelchair, not replace it.

Eve is intended for adults 18 and older with a spinal cord injury at any neurological level who can operate Eve using the controller and can tolerate standing. There are also physical limitations, as Eve is customized to your measurements: up to 220 lb (100 kg) and 6 ft 4 in (1.94 m), within specified ranges for thigh length, leg length, pelvic width, and joint mobility. Eve is a prescription device, so the final decision always rests with the licensed practitioner who prescribes it, following an individual assessment.

Yes. Eve has been cleared by the FDA under K260381 for adults with spinal cord injuries at any neurological level. It is a Class II medical device available by prescription only, so a licensed healthcare practitioner must prescribe it. Eve will become commercially available in the United States on September 17, 2026. Other regions will follow.

Yes, every time. Eve is used in the presence of a trained companion, who is trained and certified alongside you and stays within arm's reach while you walk. Your companion is also the person who helps you safely exit the device if anything goes wrong. Companions are assessed as well, including a physical test to ensure they can hold onto the device if you lose your balance.

On level indoor surfaces, and on level surfaces in outdoor areas that are part of your building: a patio, a balcony, a terrace, or a courtyard. The surface must be firm, dry, and smooth—such as tile or other smooth, hard flooring, low-pile carpet, or concrete in outdoor areas. Eve is not intended for use on stairs, slopes, or ramps (including ADA curb cuts), wet or icy ground, crowded areas, parking lots, or roadways, nor is it intended for sports. It must never be used to cross a public street, as its walking speed is too slow to ensure safety.

You and your companion train together and are certified together, following a clinical assessment and a personalized fitting. The program consists of five sessions, each lasting about two hours, led by certified trainers, combining instruction with hands-on practice. It covers transfers, operating the remote control, walking on level surfaces, activities of daily living, and safety and emergency procedures, and concludes with an assessment that evaluates both normal use and emergency situations. It can be completed in as little as one week or spread out over about 30 days.
